So much so that I will usually choose a cheesecake for my birthday every year instead of a traditional cake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All that to say, I&#8217;ve made (and eaten!) a lot of cheesecake in my life. And over the years I&#8217;ve learned there is one important component to making the perfect cheesecake &#8211; a water bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is A Water Bath?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A water bath, also known as a bain marie, is made by placing your springform pan with the unbaked cheesecake into a large roasting pan with hot water. The hot water surrounds the springform pan and allows your cheesecake to bake gently and more evenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Water baths aren&#8217;t just limited to cheesecakes though! If you&#8217;re baking a full-size cheesecake though, like my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livewellbakeoften.com\/banana-pudding-cheesecake\/\">banana pudding cheesecake<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livewellbakeoften.com\/pumpkin-cheesecake\/\">pumpkin cheesecake<\/a>, I always recommend using a water bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Need further convincing? The cheesecake on the left was baked in a water bath and the cheesecake on the right was baked without a water bath. Pretty obvious difference, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I personally prefer to use a water bath for all of my larger cheesecakes for several reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It tastes better. <\/strong>The steam from the water bath creates a humid environment in your oven, so you end up with a smooth and creamy cheesecake. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Helps to prevent cracks. <\/strong>There&#8217;s nothing worse than spending hours on a cheesecake only for it to end up with a huge crack down the middle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The end result is much prettier! <\/strong>Your cheesecake will have a perfectly smooth top and you won&#8217;t end up with a brown cheesecake that puffs up and sinks as soon as you remove it from the oven.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So today, I&#8217;ll be showing you exactly how to make a water bath. I have several different springform pans, but this <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+eOVSqb7ZanPGRIzS0tYR1w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">springform pan<\/a> from Wilton is a great option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aluminum foil: <\/strong>Reynolds heavy duty foil works great!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Oven bag or slow cooker bag: <\/strong>I personally prefer Reynolds oven bags. Slow cooker bags work too, but they are a little smaller than oven bags.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saucepan\/Kettle: <\/strong>To boil the water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Large roasting pan:<\/strong> Technically you can use any kind of pan that you like, it just needs to be larger than your springform pan. I use this <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+1UiwF56xlTbVagukTKX9RQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">roasting pan<\/a> whenever I make my cheesecakes and it works 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prepare the crust:<\/strong> Partially bake the crust for your cheesecake and set aside to cool slightly. For this demonstration I used my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livewellbakeoften.com\/make-graham-cracker-crust\/\">homemade graham cracker crust<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prepare the pan: <\/strong>Once the crust has cooled slightly, wrap the outside of the springform pan in aluminum foil, then place it into a large oven bag. Make sure to fold the oven bag down the sides of the pan until it&#8217;s at the same height as your pan. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default
