Below are the key items to have on hand: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pie Crust: <\/strong>You can use either a homemade or store-bought pie crust for this recipe. My <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livewellbakeoften.com\/homemade-pie-crust\/\">homemade pie crust recipe <\/a>will make two, but you can easily cut it in half or freeze the second pie crust to use later.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Light Corn Syrup: <\/strong>Sweetens the filling and keeps it silky smooth. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sugar: <\/strong>I use a blend of granulated and brown sugar in the pecan pie filling to add both sweetness and flavor. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pecans: <\/strong>I prefer using chopped pecans, but you may use pecan halves if desired. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chocolate Chips: <\/strong>You&#8217;ll want to use dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips. If you&#8217;re not familiar with how to do this, you can refer to my post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livewellbakeoften.com\/how-to-blind-bake-a-pie-crust\/\">how to blind-bake pie crust<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s review the basic steps for preparing the pie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Partially Bake the Pie Crust<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Roll out the pie dough and transfer to a 9-inch standard pie plate. Trim any excess dough off of the edges. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place the pie plate in the fridge to chill for about 15 minutes. Decorate the edges of the pie dough however you like, then line the dough with foil or parchment paper. Fill the pie crust with pie weights (or dried beans, like I did). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake the pie crust for around 15 minutes, or just until the edges start to brown. Carefully remove the pie weights and foil from the pie crust and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Then, remove from the oven and set aside. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce the oven temperature to 375\u00b0F. Add the vanilla and melted butter.
